The Statesboro Police Department is investigating 2 incidents of Armed Robbery that occurred on Lanier Drive early this morning.

On 9/21/2017 at approximately 2 am, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to a call of Armed Robbery that occurred at a residence at the College Walk apartment complex. Victims described the suspects as 2 black males armed with handguns.

At approximately 4:10 am, officers responded to a second call of Armed Robbery that occurred at a residence in the Cambridge – The Palms apartment complex. The victims described the suspects as 2 black males armed with handguns.

At this time, detectives of the Statesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau investigating these incidents believe that the two are connected. The investigation remains ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.

The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a case of Burglary that occurred at a local business.

On 9/11 at approximately 4:30 am, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to a call of Burglary at TC Outdoors on Northside Drive East. Working with the owner of the store, officers were able to compile a list of stolen firearms, which included pistols and a rifle.

Officers began to track the unknown suspect(s) and were able to recover each of the stolen firearms.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

The Statesboro Police Department has made 2 arrests in a case of Armed Robbery.

On 9/11 at approximately 4:20 am, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to a call of armed robbery at the Parker’s Endzone convenience store on the corner of Lanier Drive and Chandler Road. Cash and merchandise were stolen.

Officers were able to locate and arrest 2 juvenile suspects fleeing from the scene. The money, merchandise and a firearm were recovered at the time of arrest.

Chief Mike Broadhead says, “This was a great example of teamwork by the officers. They were able to arrest armed suspects in direct flight from a crime efficiently and effectively.”

The Statesboro Police Department has effectively and successfully used the stabilizing agent Narcan in two separate situations that occurred on 9/4 and 9/5.

On 9/4 at approximately 11:25 pm, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to a call of a sick person in need of assistance. It was determined by the officers that Narcan should be administered in an effort to stabilize the patient. The Narcan was effective and stabilized the patient, who was transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center by EMS.

On 9/5 at approximately 7:30 am, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to a second call of a sick person in need of assistance at a different location. Again, Narcan was successfully administered and stabilized the patient before transport to EGRMC by EMS.

The Statesboro Police Department was able to issue Narcan kits to every officer through a grant from the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation. We are very thankful to have this tool to use in furthering our mission of creating a safer community.

The investigation into the 2012 murder of Akeila Rochelle Martin is still ongoing five years after her death.

Akeila was shot and killed while in the parking lot of the Platinum Lounge on 8/19/2012 at approximately 2:50am. Officers of the Statesboro Police Department were on vehicle and foot patrol in the area when they heard multiple gun shots and rushed to the scene. There was a large crowd of 200 to 300 people in the parking lot when the incident occurred.

When the officers arrived they located two victims of the shooting; Sadondra Brianna Scarboro and Akeila Rochelle Martin. Scarboro was transported to the hospital and treated for her injuries.
The scene was secured by the responding officers and Detective Keith Holloway. Police interviewed a large number of people that were on scene at the time of the shooting. A report was taken and the case was turned over to Detective Holloway for investigation.

This case has continued to be under investigation since the murder of Akeila Martin. A reward is being offered for information leading the arrest and conviction of the offender.

The Statesboro Police Department has made a second arrest in a violent case of Armed Robbery.

On 8/6/17 at approximately 3 am, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to East Georgia Regional Medical Center in reference to a possible Armed Robbery and Kidnapping that occurred at a residence on Robin Hood Trail earlier that night. Officers met with the victim and began to investigate.

Detectives of the Statesboro Police Department identified the below listed individual as the second of 2 suspects in the case on 8/10 and obtained warrants for his arrest. The first suspect was taken into custody on 8/9, as was referenced in the Statesboro Police Department press release posted on that same date.

Pace was arrested on 8/10 and was transported to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action.

The Statesboro Police Department arrested a man on charges related to incidents of Armed Robbery that occurred at local businesses.

On 6/20/17, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to a call regarding a suspicious person and made contact with the listed suspect, whose backpack and build matched the suspect description from an Armed Robbery that occurred on 6/16/17. The suspect fled on foot and warrants were taken out for his arrest.

On 6/24/17, the suspect turned himself in at the Statesboro Police Department. Through further investigation by detectives of the Statesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau, it was determined that Lyons was involved in the 6/16/17 Armed Robbery at Pizza Hut and an Armed Robbery and Kidnapping that occurred on 5/9/17 at Dollar General.

The suspect was transported to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action.

The Statesboro Police Department made multiple arrests in a case of Armed Robbery at a local business.

On 6/13/17 at approximately 11:30 PM, the Statesboro Police Department was notified of a possible armed robbery that occurred at the El Sombrero on Northside Drive East, a local Mexican restaurant. Officers responded and began investigating.

Officers began searching for suspects based on descriptions provided by the victim and witnesses. The Bulloch County Sherriff’s Office K-9 tracking team assisted in the search. Officers of the Georgia Southern University Public Safety Department stopped a vehicle matching the provided description and discovered items that were taken from the victim. Statesboro Police Department officers responded and continued the investigation.

The suspects were arrested without incident and transported to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action.

We would like to thank the Bulloch County Sherriff’s Office and Georgia Southern University Public Safety for their assistance in this investigation.
