The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at the Baymont Hotel early this morning.

On 3/9/18 at approximately 6:00 AM, officers of the Statesboro Police Department responded to the Baymont Hotel in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim, later identified as Jeffrey Lee Raymond, age 34 of Statesboro, who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Mr. Raymond was rushed from the scene by EMS personnel to East Georgia, where he succumbed to the injuries sustained from the incident.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Raymond’s family and loved ones for their loss.

Through investigation, detectives of the Statesboro Police Department identified Tai-ri Darnell Crocker, age 33 of Lithia Springs, GA, as the primary suspect in this incident.

Warrants have been obtained for Crocker’s arrest in connection to this incident. We encourage Crocker to turn himself in to the nearest law enforcement agency immediately. If you have any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, please contact us immediately. If you believe you have seen the suspect out in public, please contact us or the nearest law enforcement agency or call 911 immediately. Do not try to make contact with this subject yourself, he is considered armed and dangerous.
