On April 19, 2024, a man contacted Dispatch to advise that he was in a local park, with a firearm, and would shoot anyone who came near him. Officers responded and contacted the man who was clearly in an agitated state. A revolver was on the bench next to him and he continued to make threats. Officers were able to separate the man from the revolver and took him into custody using less lethal means. The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation, and the revolver was recovered. This turned out to be a CO2 powered BB Gun, but the officers had no way of knowing that at the time. Georgia State Law OCGA 40-6-16 requires you to move over or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the shoulder of a road. Failure to reduce speed or move over could result in fines up to $500.00.
